Is there a volunteer commitment?
Yes! Summer Swim team is a neighborhood activity run by parent volunteers. It takes approximately 90 volunteers to run each meet. As a result, each family is required to support the team by volunteering. One parent per swimmer’s family MUST be available to work the equivalent of 5 half meets. (This requirement can be fulfilled by working 2 whole and one half meet, 1 whole and 3 half meets, or 5 half meets.) Training is provided for all positions. We cannot have a successful season without your support!
How are the age groups broken down?
Groups are based on the age of swimmers on May 31, 2026. Here are the six age groups: 6 and under, 7 & 8, 9 & 10, 11 & 12, 13 & 14, and 15 & up
What are the practices like?
Practices help swimmers improve strokes and learn new strokes. They're team practices, not swim lessons. While we want to encourage younger swimmers, we must maintain a standard of eligibility to ensure all swimmers receive adequate coaching.
We expect swimmers to attend daily practices. We group practices up by age so coaches can work with swimmers in small groups. Swimmers will need a swim suit, towel, goggles, and a water bottle for practice.
Do we swim during inclement weather?
Swim Practices will not be held if it is raining hard or if there is any threat of lightning. Land drills may be held if it is particularly cold. Parents must use their own judgment as to whether their child should participate in any given practice. Coaches or Team Parents will send an e-mail or text notification if practices are cancelled.
In the case of swim meets, team parents, head coaches and the starter determine if a meet will be delayed or cancelled. Please show up to swim meets on time. We are required to wait one hour before making a decision about the meet.
